Anne was born in Canada, married and re-located to Buffalo New York. She now maintains studios in Cortez, Florida and Linville, North Carolina. She was encouraged early on by a high school teacher in Oshawa Ontario and mentored by Alexander Luke of the Canadian Painters Eleven where she was tutored in Oil Painting. In 1992 she began painting in Watercolor and was immediately captivated. She has studied with master watercolorists in the United States and Canada. She teaches widely giving workshops in many states and Canada. Anne is a versatile artist with a wide variety of subject matters. She uses a technique developed from endless hours of painting, and her passion for color and design are very personal and expressive. She has been accepted into a number of National shows and won many major prizes which are very validating. The competition is fierce and these shows get hundreds of entries. This helped establish her name and as a result of this she was asked to teach all over North America. Her teaching skills are becoming legend in Florida - the last 4 classes that were available for sign-up were filled in thirteen minutes and all have waiting lists. Anne teaches at Art Center Manatee and Art Center Sarasota. She has also been on the faculty at Ringling School of Art and Design. She is a signature member of FWS and NFWS and FLAG and a member of the National Pen Women of America, as well as the Contemporary Women's Art Group. She serves on the Board of Directors of Art Center Manatee in Bradenton, Florida and is chair of their Education Department. Anne was also President of the Florida Watercolor Society in 2006 and is currently the President of the Florida Sun Coast Watercolor Society. Awards since 2006 include 12 Best of Shows and First prizes and more then 35 other awards. She has had articles published in International Artist Magazine, Watercolor Magazine, Artist Magazine and Watercolor Magic and several Florida publications. In 2005, Anne was accepted into the American Watercolor show in New York and won the Lattner Gold Award in the Florida Watercolor Society Show as well as the Millard Sheets award at the National Watercolor Society Show in California. This year she has won awards with both the Florida Watercolor Society and with Philadelphia Watercolor society. The past year was very exciting for Anne with the release of her book “Daring Color” and all of the book signings and events surrounding its release. In August, the Northlight Book Club also released her book in Australia, Europe, Canada and Japan. I am told she has a best seller! The Editors have also said that her book has the highest percent of orders of any book that Northlight published in 2007! Anne was also able to squeeze in a few exhibitions. She was selected to win the second prize in both the Niagara Frontier and Florida Suncoast Watercolor Society Shows. She was also thrilled to be chosen for the National Watercolor Society Show again, as well as the Florida Watercolor Society 2007 Exhibition. Anne will also be the Juror for the High Country Watercolor Society show and the Sun City Watercolor Show. With all this going on, Anne also finds time to serve time as the President of the Florida Suncoast Watercolor Society, a thriving local organization and she sit on the Board of Directors of Art Center Manatee as Education Chairman. Anne also proudly serves on the Board of the Florida Watercolor Society as a Past President. Anne has also held 3 - “One Woman Shows” in 2007, The Art Cellar in Banner Elk, NC, Art Uptown in Sarasota, Fl., and at the Susan Mosley Center’s Art on the River in Bradenton, FL. In early 2008 Anne will have another “One Woman Show” at Art Center Manatee in Bradenton, FL, running from February 7th through March 1st. Not only has Anne been blessed with a “best seller, but the Press and Newspapers have been very kind to her by featuring her in articles in North Carolina, Florida and New York. The publication Create Better Paintings will feature her work on their web-site and LWR Life-Spree will feature Anne in their January Arts & Living issue. Anne has a busy schedule lined up for 2008. She hopes to remain healthy in mind and body and looks forward to fulfilling her upcoming commitments and to paint all the images that she has waiting! |
